NZ Marine Industry Training Organisation (NZ Marine ITO)

A division of the NZ Marine Industry Association, NZ Marine ITO's special character as an industry training organisation is built on the long tradition of apprenticeships in New Zealand's boating industry.  From successful trailer power boats to internationally acclaimed super yachts and race winning performance yachts, the New Zealand marine industry is forecast to double in size over the next 10 to 15 years and is dependant on a strong and well trained work force.

Training in the Composites Industry
The NZ Marine ITO is also responsible for managing the training of all Composites Industry trainees.
Graduates of the NZ Marine ITO are recognised as fully qualified trades-people by the New Zealand Composites Industry and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). In addition, thanks to the professional reputation of the New Zealand Marine and Composites Industries internationally and to the high standards of training, NZ Marine ITO graduates are highly regarded and sought after around the world.

Developing “Lean Marine Thinking”

“The NZ MARINE ITO got involved in promoting Lean Thinking because of the benefits it brings to all levels of the marine industry.   As NZ MARINE ITO works closely with marine industry companies, helping them guide their apprentices through our world-renowned training system, it became apparent that many of these companies and their staff would derive huge benefits from employing a Lean Thinking approach in their businesses. The true value proposition of this is that while the industry requires trades/craftsman that work in the business, competitive manufacturing trains you how to work on the business, this is a paradigm shift for most.
