ROLE & SKILL SET
The work involves lamination using hand layup, mould and plug recuperation/fabrication, vacuum bagging. Time management, schedule and planning of day and week workload is essential to accomplish the set tasks.
To be successful in this position you need to have an eye for detail and pride on your work. Must be able to communicate, be receptive to feedback and capable of working in a fast-paced work environment. A surf/kite/windsurf board maker would have the skill set we can work with. We do have interest in developing new building techniques so any other RTM, infusion or pre-preg experience is an advantage

We are located 45min north of Wellington and only a 10min walk from the local train station.

Boat City is your complete marine store. With a full Workshop and Installation Division, Boat Sales Department selling leading brands such as Mercury and Yamaha Outboard Motors, Haines Hunter, Senator, Kiwi Kraft, and Reflex Boats plus a Fishing and Chandlery store packed with all the best product to complement a day on the water.
Ideally you will be a qualified Outboard Engine Technician but this is not essential. However, you will need to have some experience and skills in the marine industry. Internal and external training will be provided to bring you up to speed with the way our workshop works and the requirements that our outboard manufacturers set out. There is also plenty of scope to progress as an Outboard Mechanic and gain certifications through external training with the likes of Yamaha and Mercury.
- Knowledge of two and four stroke engines
- Electronic testing ability and an ability to trouble shoot technical problems
- Current drivers licence
- Work within set time frames
- Physically fit

A background in marine isn’t necessarily required. We are looking for qualified and experienced electricians or marine engineers with a good understanding of DC electrical wiring.
