Busfield Marine, the highly regarded Westhaven brokerage founded 25 years ago, is to complement their popular Bavaria yacht range with a line up of good-looking, practical and cost-effective Bavaria motorboats.
Busfield Marine, which was founded by current NZ Marine executive director Peter Busfield in 1988 has, since 2008, been owned and managed by marine industry stalwart Bill Rutherford.
“One of the best things I did after buying Busfield Marine was to secure the Bavaria agency,” he says. “It has been an incredible success for us.
“Bavaria Yachts are now New Zealand’s most popular production yacht brand, with over 100 Bavarias now happily sailing around our coasts.”
Rutherford says the introduction of the Bavaria motorboat range is the perfect way to celebrate the iconic brokerage’s 25th anniversary.
“In the early days, Busfield Marine sold Farr 1220s and Formula 4000s. Although neither of those is still in production, they had a lot in common with the Bavaria yachts and motorboats we sell now,” he says. “Both were easily driven, big volume boats and were very good value for money — three of the reasons Bavaria yachts and motorboats are so popular today, not just here but right around the world.”
Although Bavaria motorboats are some of the best value powerboats on the market, they are also built to the highest standards of quality. The Bavaria yard, which employs more than 600 people, is one of the most modern boat production facilities in the world. Bavaria motorboats and yachts easily surpass all CE requirements and both their boats and their production facility are regularly inspected by Germanischer Lloyd.
“This means certified quality on which New Zealanders can, and do, depend,” says Rutherford.
“Innovation, modern methods, computer-aided manufacturing processes and highly skilled craftsmen all enable these great vessels to be produced comparatively inexpensively. We are then able to pass on this competitive advantage direct to our customers.”
Rutherford says the Bavaria Sport range of motorboats, which have been developed in collaboration with the BMW Group DesignworksUSA, boasts a strikingly successful blend of timeless design, utmost comfort and excellent performance.
“These are modern motorboats for those who really enjoy their time on the water. There are five models, from the Sport 29 to the Sport 44 Hardtop, meaning there is a boat to suit every size and budget.”
Busfield Marine will also distribute the new Bavaria Virtess 420, which will be available as either a Flybridge or Coupé.
“This is a seriously good vessel,” says Rutherford. “It combines design, technology and comfort to perfection.
“Within months of its release, the Virtess 420 Flybridge had won three prestigious awards and that’s no surprise when you see all the innovative features that have been included.
“For example, both the cockpit table and the accompanying seat bench can move around on a guide rail system. This means they can be positioned for either al fresco dining or to ensure easy access to the full-width bathing platform for swimming, fishing or diving.”
Both the Bavaria Sport and Virtess motorboat ranges come with a range of interior layouts, upholstery choices and accommodation plans and are available through Busfield Marine’s Westhaven Drive offices in downtown Auckland.
Bill Rutherford and the Busfield Marine team will also be on Stand 111 in Pavilion 1 at the Auckland On Water Boat Show on September 26-29.
