Dickey Boats was named overall winner at the 2014 Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show. The Napierbased company picked up three awards for its new model, the Custom 950; Boat of the Show: Overall Winner, Boat of the Show: Aluminium Fishing Boat Open and Boat of the Show: Best New Model.
The company’s approach is to allow a high-level of customisation so that each boat is stamped with its owner’s DNA. The brand is growing in popularity overseas, with its presence felt in Australia and growing orders coming in from Europe. Dickey’s Tristin Dickey says she and fellow founder, Jason, are extremely proud of their team and what they’re achieving, and the award is welcome recognition for the Dickey team.
“It’s not just recognition of the quality of each and every Dickey Boat, it also acknowledges the dedication, skill and hard work of the whole team in Napier. Without them, building boats of this calibre simply wouldn’t be possible.”
With ever-increasing orders, Tristan tells us Dickey Boats is now looking to add more experienced alloy fabricators to the team.
