The 2014 Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show was hugely successful for Dickey Boats – The ultimate honour went to a new model, the Custom 950. In fact, the 950 picked up three Gold all by itself.
Boat of the Show: Overall Winner
Boat of the Show: Aluminium Fishing Boat Open
Boat of the Show: Best New Model
However, the accolades didn’t stop there with Dickey Boats Custom 750 XS also collecting Gold for Boat of the Show: All Purpose Open, adding to its Overall Winner’s title from 2013.
While these awards aren’t something the founders set out to achieve, Jason and Tristin Dickey are extremely proud. “It’s not just recognition of the quality of each and every Dickey Boat, it also acknowledges the dedication, skill and hard work of the whole team in Napier. Without them, building boats of this calibre simply wouldn’t be possible.”
That said, Tristin observes they are always on the lookout for great craftsmen, and women. “In fact, we’re desperately looking for experienced alloy fabricators to join the team right now!”
Jason refers to the company’s unique approach to boat building as the Dickey Boat difference. “Not only in design and construction, but also the level of customisation. What’s more, you’d be hard pressed to find any boat that encourages so much input from clients. Most finished boats are stamped with their owners DNA.”
Further proof of Dickey Boats superiority can be seen in the brand’s growing popularity in overseas markets. Already making its presence felt in Australia, orders have also been coming in from Europe.
But the only way to really understand what makes a Dickey Boat so different is to take one out on the water. Then you’ll find out for yourself why the judges at the Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show are so impressed.
