At the recent Australian International Marine Export Group conference (ASMEX), representatives of the Destination NZ Superyacht Attraction Initiative, led by Peter Busfield, met with their Australian equivalents to discuss attracting more superyachts to this part of the world.
While there has long been discussion within the superyacht industry of the need to work as a cohesive unit in our part of the world, the meeting drew relevant industry bodies into the conversation and took steps to increase trans-Tasman cooperation. The outcome was that
industry bodies and government agencies agreed to share data and research information on our shared visitors, work on joint marketing initiatives to attract yachts to, and charter within, the South Pacific and promote extended cruising, among other things.
Head of AIMEX, Maryanne Edwards, has previously expressed admiration for the NZ Marine Industry Association’s forward momentum and Peter Busfield is likewise looking forward to working even more closely with the proactive Australian Industry body.
