Hot on the heels of FC Boats roomy and feature packed FC580 model released late in 2013, comes the release of a new smaller sibling, the versatile FC540.
Like the FC580, the new FC540 has been designed to be an all-rounder and boasts core features such as generous cockpit space for fishing, fantastic stability and a large casting platform on the foredeck making it a truly diverse craft.
The FC540 features two stability systems, firstly, a flooding keel which fills with water when the boat is at rest, making the craft ultra stable, then once underway the water drains out.
Secondly, there is a controllable 100L ballast tank for’ard in the boat, allowing the skipper to bring onboard the desired amount of forward ballast and to dump it when not needed.
Extra safety for the FC540 comes in the form of a sealed floor and foam filled gunnels and the company has also incorporated a gull wing design that has been successful in their other models, which assists in making the FC540 very dry when underway.
With fishing functionality paramount in the design of the FC540, like the bigger FC580 a forward casting platform has again be incorporated into the craft with access made via the large cabin hatch.
“The forward casting platform adds another fishing dimension to the boat that we know anglers love. This casting area combined with the great stability allows anglers to confidently cast their baits exactly where they want,” says Fish City managing director Ross Christensen.
Storage is provided in the forward cabin via side shelves and bunks can be fitted as an option. Aimed to appeal to the traditional kiwi boating family, king and queen seating options are also available.
Other features include a passive (no pump needed) live bait tank, large under floor storage; rear seating and rocket launcher.
Powered easily with 60hp through to 90hp, the FC540 will achieve 42mph with the maximum rated power, while a 60hp two-stroke will see it reach 32mph. Fuel storage comes in the form of two 25 litre or 45L tote tanks.
Packages with a 60hp two-stroke Mercury outboard start from $35,995.
The new FC540 will make its first public showing at the upcoming Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show, May 15-18 at ASB Showgrounds Auckland.
Also debuting will be a new FC460, a forward steer runabout, boasting immense stability and a sizeable cockpit.
