Strong sales at last year’s Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show were always going to be hard to beat, but Surtees left this year’s event feeling very chuffed after a record-breaking year.
The Surtees stand was a buzzing hive of interest all weekend, owing a lot of that foot traffic to the newly launched Surtees 5.8 Game Fisher.
With 1mm increases in both the hull and side thickness, now 5mm and 4mm respectively, many punters were excited to see the redesigned boat for the first time.
The 5.8 has long been known for its safety and stability, and this redesign strengthens this position. In conjunction with the Surtees iconic Super Deep V Hull, the thicker alloy means a slightly heavier boat, leading to a quieter and more comfortable trip in the toughest chop.
Surtees has also had strong exports to both Australia and the Pacific Islands, something which indicates a positive outlook in the boating industry. The strong sales make it one of the most popular and seaworthy boats in Australasia.
A family oriented boat, able to be used for fishing and water sports alike, the 5.8 is selling faster than ever, and the new redesign means dozens more are likely to be sold for the upcoming summer boating season.
