Fit for a (future) King, NZ Marine Industry companies were the modes of transport of choice when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge needed to whip around Auckland’s waters in April.
Starting off the day with a tour of award-winning 44.18-metre Imagine, built by Auckland’s Alloy Yachts, the Royal couple then took Team New Zealand yachts NZL41 and NZL68 for a spin, before being whisked up-harbour on a fast Sealegs amphibious craft.
New Zealand marine technology and innovation has long been sought- after around the world, with it leading the way in America’s Cup, Volvo Ocean Race and Olympic race yachts.
Beyond competitive sports, many of our businesses have made it their place to be the best in the business across the breadth of the market. One such company is Southern Spars, who supplied masts and rigging to NZL41 – as well as the mast and boom on Imagine.
