Lusty & Blundell project manager, well-known industry figure, and man with a sense of humour firmly intact, Stuart Hay, is celebrating 25 years with the marine product and services distributor.
During the celebrations to mark the milestone, which was attended by long time colleagues, marine industry identities and media, Hay recalled first joining the marine industry some 47 years ago. His first job was at Joint Industries, where he helped manufacture GRP powerboats. He then worked for Ozzie Tait Boat Services, Brisc Marine and Marine Power, before joining Lusty & Blundell in 1988.
Over the last 25 years, Hay has seen the popular sales and systems company grow to the point where there are now three Lusty & Blundell sales and service centres (in Whangarei, Albany and Tauranga) and a nationwide network of highly qualified marine dealers.
“One thing that hasn’t changed,” he says, “is the quality of the products we sell.
“Founder Ken Lusty was only interested in promoting the very best marine products and that is exactly the same philosophy that we operate under today.”
During the celebration, Lusty and Blundell CEO Mark Milburn praised Hay’s “encyclopaedic knowledge” and thanked him for his many of years of service.
“Stuart has worked here in a variety of roles, including many years as a director of the company,” he says. “However, it is as the product manager of Jabsco and Flojet pumps that he has made – and continues to make — the greatest impact.
“There is very little about marine pumps and marine pumping systems that Stuart does not know.”
