Raymarine’s new Evolution combines advanced aerospace guidance technology with Raymarine’s vast marine autopilot expertise to create the most accurate and easiest-to-install autopilot ever.
Despite boasting better performance than any other autopilot on the market, Evolution requires just 30 seconds to set up! Better still, there is no need for any of those troublesome and time-consuming tasks such as compass swing and auto-learn calibration!
Nor is there any need to adjust the Evolution’s performance to suit the type or size of the vessel. And, being built to IPX6 and IPX7 waterproofing and submersion standards (and immune to magnetic interference), Evolution can literally be installed anywhere on board: above or below the waterline.
To make things even easier, Evolution will also work with existing network infrastructure.
Once installed, Raymarine’s new Evolution will really impress with its incredible performance. Offering smoother, more progressive turn-in, assured performance at all speeds for all hull types and automatic optimal boat response in all sea states and weather conditions, Evolution also allows the skipper to choose between comfort, economy or accuracy modes and also gets better over time, continually learning more about the vessel’s manoeuvring characteristics.
The culmination of Raymarine’s 30-plus years of autopilot R&D, Evolution uses solid state technology with 9-axis stabilisation to deliver dynamic accuracy: to within 2 degrees in all conditions. It also automatically compensates for both metal and magnetic fields, boasts enhanced accuracy in extreme north and south latitudes and is so clever it automatically detects and adapts to its environment.
Thanks to an innovative breakthrough in autopilot intelligence, these clever new autopilots use Evolution AI™ control algorithms to enable the Evolution autopilots to perceive their environment and then instantly calculate and evolve steering commands to maximise performance.
At the heart of the Evolution autopilot system is Raymarine’s new ultra-compact, EV sensor core: a 9-axis heading sensor and full function course computer in one. Around the same size as a typical marine GPS sensor it is available in two versions; EV-1 for Raymarine drive systems and EV-2 for drive-by-wire systems. Using a direct DeviceNet connection, EV-2 makes it quick and easy to connect to drive-by-wire systems such as Teleflex Optimus 360, Volvo Penta IPS or ZF Pod Drive.
The new Evolution autopilots will be officially released in New Zealand at the Auckland On Water Boat Show in late September and will then be available nationwide through Lusty and Blundell’s network of leading marine dealers.
