New Zealand Marine Industry Training Organisation oversees and coordinates the training of personnel for the New Zealand marine industry. This includes being the Modern Apprenticeship Co-ordinator for the New Zealand marine industry; setting standards and qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework that meet the needs of the marine industry; and managing training arrangements that enable employees in the industry to achieve standards and qualifications.

A division of the NZ Marine Industry Association (NZMI), NZ Marine ITO's special character as an industry training organisation is built on the long tradition of apprenticeships in New Zealand's boating industry.
