The company is growing, it is seeking an additional experienced fabricator-welder with advanced skills and marine industry experience to join its talented welding fabrication team. This is a permanent position with the opportunity to take your career to the next level as there is potential to grow within the role.
The company’s products are designed and fabricated to high quality international compliance standards such as LR, DNV/GL, ABS, CE, ISO etc and made from a variety of high quality materials including Stainless Steel, Steel, Aluminium and state of the art Titanium, (No previous Titanium welding experience is required).
KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:
- Marine industry experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a fabricator on factory floor
- Advanced fabrication and welding skills using both MIG & TIG
- A good understanding of material deformation/heat input when welding
- Proficient fabricating curved structures and shapes
- Genuine team player

We are a boat building company based in Albany that builds catamaran and monohull boats, combined with the uniqueness of adding amphibious systems to our crafts and allowing every customer the option to customise their craft.
This role means that not every boat built is the same, giving the right applicant a chance to build not just your standard boat and expand their boat building experience by learning the amphibious side of the industry.
Suitable applicant must be:
– Experienced in Mig and Tig Aluminium welding. (the job may be given to someone who has a passion for boats, hardworking and has a willingness to learn).
– Be able to build a craft from drawings and plans.
– Flexibility to do custom work.
– Cut and scribe to fit panels (not common on our boats as they are all CAD designed and CNC cut and fold).
– Sand and grind and prep all aluminium substrates for painting.
– Work full time and overtime if required.
– Team player.

Marine Electrics NZ has full-time positions available for both experienced 230 Volt, DC Electricians and Marine Engineers (with DC electrical experience). A background in marine isn’t necessarily required. We are looking for qualified and experienced electricians or marine engineers with a good understanding of DC electrical wiring. A solid background and a keen positive attitude are key. You may be an experienced auto sparky or a commercial 230 volt sparky with a keen interest in boating and fishing looking for a new challenge in an industry you are passionate about.
The successful applicant in this exciting and growing industry will be well presented, have a full NZ driver’s license and a keen interest in the marine industry. A high level of verbal & written English communication skills are essential. You will be able to operate with a high level of autonomy which in turn requires time management skills & trustworthiness. Company vehicle, cell phone and uniform supplied. Wage and package details can be discussed in an interview and will reflect the applicant’s level of skill. It can be a demanding industry, our clients have high expectations so you will need to cope well under pressure.
