Oceanbridge Shipping Ltd has appointed Matt Archer to the position of marine manager responsible for the company’s important marine industry customers together with the logistical movement of oversized and heavyweight cargoes to and from New Zealand.
Alister Wishart, the company’s chief operations officer, says Archer is a textbook career staff member having joined the company’s proven trainee programme which has run for more than 12 years.
“This programme enables younger staff to join the shipping industry and learn from the grassroots up. Prior to that, Matt prepared for a career in the New Zealand shipping industry by completing a 12 month diploma in shipping and greight run by the NZ Maritime School,” says Wishart.
“In his first year with Oceanbridge, Matt won the prestigious Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Federation of New Zealand (CABAFF) Young Achiever of the Year award, which included a trip to Singapore to view shipping on a truly international scale.”
Prior to the new role as marine manager, Archer held roles in sea freight operations, airfreight and customer service for some of the largest importers in the country. Over recent weeks, he has been meeting with the company’s marine industry partners and customers, reaffirming Oceanbridge’s commitment to this important sector of the New Zealand economy.
