Superyacht Support, an Auckland-based superyacht agency, was named a finalist in the ‘excellence in export’ category in 2012 Westpac Auckland Central Business Awards which are run in association with the Auckland Chamber of Commerce.
The export category recognises a business that successfully works and captures the benefits of the global market, demonstrating outstanding export achievements, sustainable growth and results. Auckland Chamber of Commerce’s Chief Executive Michael Barnett says: “Awards like this highlight true excellence in business and lift benchmarks for everyone.”
“Of the 111 entries for the awards, to be among the top five export companies in Auckland is a tremendous honour,” says Jeanette Tobin, managing director of Superyacht Support.
“There are numerous benefits in entering business awards and I think more than anything it brought me back to the reason why I started this business, namely to grow the cruising and charter sector in New Zealand. I am more passionate about this than I have ever been and I’m confident we have the right people in the right jobs and we’re working with captains and owners who want to experience our country and want the best service. They believe Superyacht Support offers this and that’s brilliant.
“Our passion is to showcase New Zealand to owners, captains and international charter management companies as a fantastic destination for cruising and charters, not just for refits.
“With the 2011 opening of Silo Park Marina, yachts up to 115 m can now berth comfortably in Auckland,” adds Tobin. “Crew can make use of nearby marine contractors and socialise in Wynyard Quarter and Viaduct Harbour just along the road. Owners and crew can also easily access other destinations around Auckland and New Zealand from the privacy of their own yacht.
“New Zealand has spectacular scenery within a short distance of Auckland and what we can offer both on and off the boat is unrivalled anywhere in the world – within an hour’s motoring of Auckland’s CBD are pristine bays, amazing sea life and views of vineyards, or head to New Zealand’s South Island and cruise the wonders of Milford Sound and much more in Fiordland, said by Rudyard Kipling to be the eighth wonder of the world.”
Superyacht Support has many years’ experience within the superyacht industry and provides high-end personalised services to superyachts visiting New Zealand and the surrounding Pacific.
“Already, in late November, a good selection of smaller and larger boats are here included the motor yachts Unbridled (see photo), Che, Alchemy, Beyond Capricorn and Eclipse, as well as new expedition yacht from Alloy Yachts, CaryAli. Several more vessels are due in after Christmas to cruise and we also still supply a number of goods and provisions to various boats around the Pacific and Europe.”
