This is to inform you of the mandatory Targeted Review of all Marine and Composite Qualifications at levels 1 – 6 on the NZQF. The NZ Marine ITO has been tasked with leading this review and we welcome feedback along the way from any interested parties.
The chief objective of this targeted review is to ensure that qualifications remain current and fit for purpose. Fit for purpose in terms of industry need for certain skills at particular levels, and fit for purpose in terms of facilitating educational pathways into higher education to meet the needs and aspirations of learners. It could also include the development of completely new qualifications if required by industry.
The review was triggered by NZQA on 21 January 2014 and a list of proposed new qualifications will be sent to NZQA by 21 July 2014. Once a revised suite of qualifications is approved by NZQA, NZ Marine ITO will begin the work of developing those qualifications.
A Lead Review Group will ultimately sign off the new suite of qualifications before they go to NZQA for approval. Alongside the Lead Review Group will sit Working Groups to carry out the more detailed and technical work and report back to the Lead Review Group.
This page will contain all minutes from the Lead Review Group and the Working Groups and other relevant information on the process as it develops.
To make sure you are kept informed of the development of these new qualifications and if you have any questions please contact:
